2018-19 Nonresident Tuition and Fees Explained

Here, we show the tuition and fees for students coming from beyond California for a world-class education. National and international students pay an additional nonresident supplemental tuition and one-time document fee. Entering international students with certain visas must also pay a one-time fee for administrative support. The figures below are , and may differ from to estimate cost of attendance.

Funds non-academic services and activities in support of students including , advising, and student information systems.

Nonresident Supplemental Tuition: $28,992

Student and pupils who are not residents of California pay this fee on top of the UC tuition. Provides funding for instruction and operating costs in lieu of state support.

UC Davis Campus-based Fees: $1,832.31
Campus Expansion Initiative: $576.38

UC Davis students voted in a 2003 referendum to pass this fee for:

  • the construction and maintenance of the (opened in 2010)

  • expansion of the (2010)

  • improvements to the , (2009 and 2014), the new Silo terminal (2008) and improvements to the Memorial Union terminal (2014)

  • funding for and

  • athletic awards for play

  • the (2012)

Facilities and Campus Enhancements Fee: $438.48

This fee supports:

  • the construction and maintenance of the (2004) and (2007);

  • improvements to the (2007) and other recreation programs;

  • ; and

  • financial aid (1999 referendum).

Student Services Maintenance Fee/Student Activities and Services Initiative Fee: $366.60

This fee supports the following student services:

  • intercollegiate, intramural and sports programs;

  • the ;

  • the ;

  • campus recreation programs;

  • the Equestrian Center; and

  • the (1994 referendum).

Student Health Services Fee: $155.49

Provides operating budget support for student health and counseling services (1997 referendum).

ASUCD: $105

Provides support for the Unitrans bus service and the (ASUCD), the student government for undergraduates (1934 referendum).

Memorial Union Fee: $85.50

Pays for the Memorial Union and Silo construction and renovation projects (1957 referendum and UC regents 1984).

Student Facilities Safety Fee: $66

Funds seismic and life-safety projects in student facilities (UC regents, 1997 and 2007).

Unitrans: $18

Supports the Unitrans operating budget and financial aid (2007 referendum).

California Aggie Fee: $11.86

The Green Initiative Fund (TGIF) Fee: $9

 

*Health Insurance: $2,286

coverage for students who do not have comparable coverage under another plan.

International Student Administrative Fee: $258

Supports administrative processing of visas for entering international students.

One-time Document Fee: $150

New students pay this one-time fee to cover the cost of university documents such as official transcripts.

 

*The Stuntverkoop Regents mandates that all students have health insurance. UC Davis automatically enrolls all registered students in the UC Student Health Insurance Plan (UC SHIP). If students have comparable insurance and do not want to be enrolled in UC SHIP, they must apply for a  by the date specified for their school.
